Questionnaires:

The Rise Insight: Firstly, Congratulations on your book, “A Girl with a Black Hat” What responses are you getting from this book of yours? Please share your experience about this book.

Pranali Vira: As a first-time author, I really didn’t know what it meant to publish and market my book. But running a marketing agency, it was easier for me to learn the marketing of a book. It took me months to understand who my crowd was. But gradually my book started gaining sales; I received a good response in America and Japan. The readers loved my book there. But capturing the hearts of Indian readers strained my skills. So, I went with the process and then gained compliments from my readers that they enjoyed the book.

The Rise Insight: Your book isa fiction-based suspense and crime genre. So what inspired you to write these poems?

Pranali Vira: Actually, my writing journey began with poems. When I was in school, I experimented with writing poems. But getting busy with studies, my writing phase was ghosted. Later, when one ordinary day showed me my buried pages where I had written poems and this book, I scrapped all of them and wrote again; something new, something better and something relevant this time. All the poems amidst the chapters depict deeper meaning to our life situations, just like the flow of the story that how Nancy had to face displeasing circumstances and how her life was flipped to unpredictability within minutes.

The Rise Insight: You’ve given a very interesting title to your book, which is very catchy too so, what made you go for this title for your book?

Pranali Vira: I didn’t have many resources or any mentor to learn or attend workshops on book writing and publishing. So I had to be my own mentor. I spent days and nights reading books by successful authors. I observed and noted pointers on how they wrote and how they had decided on the title of their book. With this thought, I read my own book more than twice and selected this name. The word “Black Hat” has many meanings, one of them being an undercover anonymous personality that works for either betterment or destruction of lives.

The Rise Insight: What was your mind-set, while working on this book? What was the impetus behind this work of yours?

Pranali Vira: The impetus was just “observances.” I was hearing drug cases from people and in the news media. One small pill can affect our huge bodies; either positively or negatively. And, I was always interested in writing fiction, rather than penning down the formal research sentences. This mindset is the birth of this book.

The Rise Insight: Very few Authors are coming out with suspense and crime genre’ these days however you did so, which I believe is a bold step. So, why did you choose Fiction Crime and not something else?

Pranali Vira: As I said, I was also swayed to writing fiction and cooking suspenseful tales. Secondly, I get immersed in a story where I actually feel being a part of that story. As I was hearing the news, I started visualizing someone who would take steps to eliminate crime. Though, my second book, “Spark of Soul” is an anthology of biographies, a project that I carried out to interview successful authors and motivate many female writers to turn to authors. My upcoming book, “Secret’s Flame” is again the Crime Fiction genre.

The Rise Insight: While reading your book, I found that this story had really strong. which had greatly impressed me and thus I would like you to explain the overall of your book!

Pranali Vira: “A Girl with a Black Hat” is all about Nancy, a normal girl who falls into an unexpected situation and the pit drags her into the past. Her hard-won acceptance is followed by her thinking about the nation and its people and taking steps to set things right. After being in an unwanted circumstance, she contemplated her actions and reactions. She goes to all lengths to solve the mysteries after her suspicious past. This book not only includes the way crime is increasing but also shows a story that someday, someone might courageously take charge to eliminate it.

The Rise Insight: Next, I want you to tell us about some of those writers, who inspires you & whom you follow!

Pranali Vira: I love to write fiction but for reading, I have read many non-fiction books as well. One of the authors is Thomas Hardy, a Victorian writer who has descriptive writing talent and he has written marvellous books like “The Mayor of the Caster bridge.” Though, I admire Paulo Coelho more for his crisp writing skills and an awesome command of the language.

The Rise Insight: Is there any message which you would like to convey to your readers? Or any piece of advice, which you would like to give to the readers out there!

Pranali Vira: Just one message, books are a way to change your lifestyle and bring out the best version of yourself. Read as much as you can while you have a powerful sight because that is the only hour when you are just with yourself and silently travel into a different world, away from the everyday hustle. Though coming back here and getting a reality check is necessary, but still, books can be an escape zone to refill your energy.

The Rise Insight: Are there any other books being worked by you? Please let us know about your future projects.

Pranali Vira: My second book was “Spark of Soul,” a project to motivate female authors as told in one of the previous questions. My upcoming book is Crime Suspense Fiction genre, “Secret’s Flame,” which has a plot in the British era with a fictitious town on the edge of Goa ruled by its Mayor who was politically manipulated by the British government. It is a murder mystery and I hope it turns out even better than my first book. Another upcoming book is “Some More of Life,” a non-fiction, real-life based story. Rest are “What do People Feel,” a self-help motivating non-fiction book and “Faysea” (the title may change) again a crime fiction genre.

The Rise Insight: Thank you so much for answering all my questions. All the very best to you for future and your book too!

Pranali Vira: Thank you for this opportunity! I hope the readers like my work and I get more thoughts on writing new narratives.
