The Taj Mahal was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631, to be built in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died on 17 June that year, while giving birth to their 14th child, Gauhara Begum. Construction started in 1632, and the mausoleum was completed in 1648, while the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later. The imperial court documenting Shah Jahan’s grief after the death of Mumtaz Mahal illustrates the love story held as the inspiration for the Taj Mahal. In this article we will highlight those Five Things you don’t know about the Taj Mahal.

1. The story about amputation of artesian was a myth as Shahjahan assigned many projects after the completion of Taj Mahal
2. Taj Mahal was to have a black Mirror image, but as his son dethroned the Shah Jahan, it became a dream only for him.
3. Third, the Taj can change its colour depending on the colour of the sky. It seems pink in the morning and white in the evening
4. It is not the first place where Mumtaz Mahal buried after death; she was buried in Burhanpur
5. The Taj artesian was not an Indian but a Persian from Iran.
